Partnership
with Management. Main Street Resourcess primary
consideration for investing in any business is the quality and commitment
of the management team. The firm seeks experienced teams
that have worked together for some time and are interested in committing
personally to their business. Once connected with a strong, like-minded
management team, Main Street Resources will pursue a wide array of
transactions in order to become partners.
Transaction Types. While Main Street Resources
has taken control positions, the firm is primarily focused on owning
minority interests in companies that are controlled by their management
teams. Past transactions have included privatizations, management
buy-outs, the funding of growth capital and add-on acquisitions, and
buy-outs of passive or unproductive shareholders.
Target Companies. Main Street Resources invests
in stable, growing operating companies that are located in the Northeast
and have $10-150 million of revenue. The firm will consider almost
any industry when the transaction meets the other criteria. Generally, Main Street Resources
does not pursue start-ups or turnarounds.
Transaction Sizes. Main Street Resources generally
commits $2-10 million of equity capital per transaction, although
the firm has structured investments in excess of $20 million with
the support of its investors. The firm also has strong banking relationships
through which it can bring prudent leverage to the companies in which
it invests.
Value-Added. Main Street Resourcess goal
is to invest in companies to which the firm can add value through
the expertise of its professionals and the resources of its investor
base.
